Rue du Vertbois
With all the renewed hubbub about L'Ami Louis, I wanted to point out that "lost" reservations present possibilities. Le Vertbois, Pramil, and La Table d'Ana. Are fine places to eat and steps away.

An excellent point, thank you very much. It's true that when a street has one good restaurant, it often has several -- see for instance rue Malar, av de la Motte Picquet, rue de la Tour d'Auvergne, bd. Tour-Maubourg, etc.
There's actually an economic model explaining geographical concentration and specialisation like that. Funny.

Tangential to the OP's post, again referencing L'AL's notorious reputation for "lost" bookings, if one reconfirmed again shortly before arriving, e.g., a couple of hours, would they have the audacity to bluff losing your table? Perhaps going so far as to ask the name of the person you are talking to, as I often do at home (US)? Or would this fall outside French politeness?
