Taipei - Great Pastries at Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki

  • 1

Visited Taipei last weekend & I actually traipsed over to Bellavita mall to get some of my fave almond pastries at Salon de The de Joel Robuchon on the 3rd floor. But it was afterwards that I chanced upon Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki on Basement 2 of the same mall - his first outlet outside of Paris & Tokyo.

I bought some to compare. Oh boy, turned out Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki's almond croissant knocked Robuchon's for dead! The textures & balance of taste was amazing!! I also got the cheese & azuki bean pastries and both turned out superb as well. There's a small seating area (to handle 12 pax at a tight squeeze!)

I noticed most the clientele were stocking up on Aoki's macarons - I didn't buy any (can't imagine joining the long queue again). David Lebovitz's written about Aoki as well: http://www.davidlebovitz.com/archives...

Definitely a must-stop the next time I'm in Taipei again.

  1. Have not had the pastries but the chocolate bons bons maquillage - was surprised they were able to pack in such intense flavours into the small chocs.
