Where can I find a whole pig in MSP?

Does anyone know where a good place to find a whole butchered pig in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area? I'm looking at roasting one this weekend.

Thanks in advance.

We are probably delaying the whole pig thing because we don't have enough people coming and most pigs tend to be about 40#. However, I did want to share 2 other tips I got outside of chowhound for others who may have had their interest piqued:

    Swanson Meats in Minneapolis: http://www.swansonmeats.com/
Husnik Meats in St. Paul: http://www.swansonmeats.com/

By the way, the reason we are interested in this is that my birthday gift to Paz was something called La Caja China: https://www.lacajachina.com/

    Finally, JohnE: that'll do pig. . . that'll do.

Didn't know Swansons sold whole pigs? I live down the street from there and do buy some things from them a lot of items can only be bought by the case.

Minnesota Dept of Ag identifies producers around the state. Buy direct.

Most people are not prepared to kill a pig, hang it by it's hind legs, gut it out, scrape the hide and clean it up and get it ready for cooking. I butcher my own deer and I don't want to mess with a hog in that manner.

If you check out the MN Grown site, you'll find that buying direct doesn't mean buying live. Cedar Summit Farm has an arrangement with a butcher, I believe.

Long Cheng in S. St. Paul. They don't have a website that I can find, but here's an article from City Pages.

Oh, that would be a much better arrangement. My first reply on the topic was deleted and I don't know why. I thought maybe you had to pick up the pig and take him home with a leash and then hope your heighbors didn't hear what was going on in your garage.

I would try Nelson's Meat in Hopkins. I know they also do pig roasts so they do have whole pigs.

                  Piglet would be fine too.
