New on The Danforth
Somethings happening in the former Swiss Chalet spot near Logan. I've noticed workmen inside and now a liquor license application is posted in the window.
Anyone got the scoop? Please not another souvlaki or cheap suishi joint.

So the new place is open, but from looking in I can't say I'll be in a rush to try it out. I see there is also a sports bar coming to the former Myth location. I'm surprised that people think Danforth requires so many sports bars in such a small strip.

re: millygirl
I went there for lunch one Saturday and it was disappointing.
I wanted to give it a try because I really do like to support local businesses.
The place looks nice - very bright as compared to when it was a Swiss Chalet as it always seemed so dark. The food was a huge let down. Wings are overpriced for their size....very small with hardly any meat. They were overcooked so they were very dry. Asked for mild and they were still too hot. Did like the fries though but that is no bonus when you are a place supposedly known for your wings.
All in all, too expensive for the quality and quantity. Would not go back again. Wished they kept it as a Swiss Chalet. At least then you got a decent meal for the money.
I can't wait to try out the wings at the new sports bar that will replace Myth, whenever that opens. I was surprised to see Myth gone. They'd been around for ages.

re: bolistoli
I'll be surprised if food is the focus at the new sports bar.
I would think Brass Taps or the Old Nick are good bets for wings on the Danforth.
I'm glad Swiss Chalet left the Danforth. Swiss Chalet belongs in places like Barrie, Mississauga and Whitby, not on the Danforth. If you want a decent meal for the money, head to Asteria on Danforth just east of Pape for a chicken souvlaki dinner. Better priced than Swiss Chalet, and you're less likely to end up with high blood pressure.

re: Pincus
Have you seen it since the plastic has come down? OMG what the hell were they thinking?? Vegas, Niagara Falls? Surely I am not the only one horrified by the new Legions fake stone front?
I mean really folks - that is just plain G-d awful ugly!!! And to think it took them how many months - 8 - to erect that piece of crap?? Mr Millygirl says he would have preferred the plastic sheeting to this.

HIDEOUS!!!! When I heard "sports bar" I just thought some very utilitarian, nothing special building. I didn't expect to see the bloody Acropolis, or a Caesars Palace knock off. It is too big, too gaudy, and DOES NOT fit in. Talk about your urban blight!! If the outside is that garish, what will the inside look like? Donald Trump's apartment? Ugh! Why didn't they just leave it as it was?

Finally saw the Colossal Eyesore today. Yikes!
By the way, Pincus, if what I've heard is true, Legion is not owned by Greeks or Greek Canadians, so if they're serving wings, they aren't Greek wings.
For those in search of Greek wings, head to Rails and Ales or Whistler's. Rails and Ales has moved to 1106 Danforth, and will be open for business on July 1, 2011.

I had noticed that work seemed to stop about 3 weeks ago. I'll have to have another look. If Googs is right, I'd say we don't need a St Louis grill. But we could use some good Indian food.

The thought of a St. Louis doesn't thrill me either. Was hoping for something new and innovative in some way. I'm surprised they picked that spot to open up at. I mean it's not like they're lining up at Gabby's just down the street. That's not to say I would turn down a good chicken wing. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

I think the permit application says 'st Louis grill' which upon googling does not look good - the other thing I noticed was that the applicant was listed something like "Swiss Chalet to be known as St Louis Grill" which makes me wonder if this is their new concept or something...

re: julesrules
There's no direct connection between St. Louis Bar & Grill and Swiss Chalet. AGCO applications often say "X to be known as Y" when a new place is opening in a location where there was another restaurant previously. I assume it has something to do with the legal process of transferring the liquor license.
