sorry.. posted in wrong spot... don't know how it got up here

Hi fellow Hounds,

I'm a frequent board browser, not a frequent poster and you guys tend not to lead me astray.

Just wanted to leave a review of Lotus which recently opened in Media.

We really drug our heels trying this place, but while it initially had only lunch hours, recently it opened up on Fri/Sat evenings so we figured we would go for it. The price point is a little higher then most places in the area but the food is really light years ahead. Much more akin to some of my favorites BYOs in Philly than the other solid, but not particularly innovative places in Media.

We started off with a shaved asparagus, arugula and parm salad which was very fresh and bright. My husband had a fish dish which was prepared perfectly ...crunchy skin and moist flesh. I had a chicken dish with a white bean puree which wa also very moist and perfectly seasoned. However, our favorites were two side dishes. One was a barley and porchini "risotto" which was very inventive and full of woodsy flavor. Also my fav spring veggie - ramps were served grilled w/ pork belly.

The chef came out and talked to us a bit. He used to cook for Terrain in Glen Mills when it opened up but now is at Lotus. He uses fresh local ingredients whenever possible and will likely have even more from a close radius as the growing season progressess. Aditionally, the waitstaff were very nice and professional and the ambience was calm.

I didn't ask, but wonder if the concept for the restaurant and name were decided on before the chef, because while I expected some kind of asian fusion, what we got was a classic meal with just enough of a modern twist.

All in all, I was very impressed with the selection, creativity and preparation of the food. As mentioned it is also BYO and won't break the bank. Our entrees were in the low $20 range, apps/ salads $6-10 and side dishes were around $6-8 for dinner.

I will definately be going back, Media really needed a place like this.
