Great weekend with no reservations

I just got back from NOLA for the first weekend of Jazz Fest. I was in charge of evening meals for three of us. I had my list but I was too late to make any reservations . I warned my friends we might have to stop by several places or wait an hour or so. We were out to dinner four nights and got in at my first choices each night. Don't be afraid to show up anywhere. And, being oh so friendly and appreciative goes a long way toward getting seated.

Thursday night around 7 PM at K-Paul's: We showed up just as a reservation fell through and were seated right away.

Friday night around 7 PM at Cochon: We showed up and put our name on the list, within 30 minutes we were seated.

Saturday night around 5:30 PM at Jacques & Imos: Seated right away. This was the one place I wished they would had made us wait. The scene in the front and outside on the street looked like it could be fun.

Sunday night around 8:30 PM at Galatoire's: Showed up wearing jeans and no coats. Once we were fitted with borrowed jackets and ordered drinks upstairs, our table was ready downstairs.

Good; you had great luck. Hope all your meals were good too. Eating on JF nights can be really tricky, but we ate out twice on JF days, once at Horinoya, w/a reservation, and once at Cafe Minh, w/o a res, and had no trouble at either. Tried to get into Domenica this past Thursday, however--no luck.

This might be a reflection of JF weekend 1 vs JF weekend 2. We had no trouble getting into Domenica last weekend. We couldn't get a reservation until 10 pm, but showed up around 8 after drinks at the Sazerac and walked right in. The second weekend always seems busier and reservations/seatings are harder to come by.

And it didn't help that a 15K person convention was arriving friday and sat either.
