Any good restaurants with lake views here? I found some restaurants but they all got really bad reviews. Thanks.

  1. There's really only three restaurants in SCS that are on the lake: Jack's Waterfront, Andiamo's, and Beach Grill. All three cater to the boater community, so the menus are casual. Jack's & Beach Grill are loud, and sometimes it's very hard to get a water-view table at each. Andiamo's has a great bar. That's all I can testify to.

Thanks RedTop. I did check out Jack's and Beach Grill. They got horrible reviews! And I don't like Andiamo. Thanks for your reply.

Kind of an amusing story about the many iterations at Jack's. Two years ago the restaurant was chosen for a makeover for broadcast on Gordon Ramsey's television show. When Jack's debuted the new menu, area diners were thrilled by the uptick in food quality and presentation.

Three weeks after the show aired, Jack's canned the Ramsey influences and went back to serving boater casual!

Hell and the other local place Ramsey did went under.

    2. There was an article in the News just yesterday about the revamping of Jack's, now called Dockside Jack's. New owners, staff & menu - might be worth a look.

I see they are using lake perch as God intended--NOT in a freaking chowder.

        1. re: coney with everything

A lot of area restaurants do perch. But the benchmark will always be Pat O'Briens!

      2. you can get a good burger at gilbert's lodge on harper

Thanks xman. I just heard today that Tin Fish just opened in St. Claire Shores. I don't know if it's on the lake though. I know Tin Fish is a chain. But I've heard their food is good.

I doubt it VTB. Sometimes I feel like you pick on me;)

Are you sure you're not thinking of the one in Fair Haven? I think that just opened for the season, but that's gotta be 20-25 miles away, at the north end of Lake St. Clair. I haven't heard anything about a Tin Fish in SCS.

I have no idea where Fair Haven is. On Channel 7 tonight they had a rep. from Tin Fish talking about a their new restaurant in Novi. The rep. mentioned that they have a new restaurant that just opened in St. Clair Shores. Thanks for your reply gooddog!

If you travel north along the lakeshore Fair Haven is at the north end of the lake, between New Baltimore and Algonac. That's where the original Tin Fish is. Great views, right on the water, but I have to say I've eaten there a couple of times and remember nothing remarkable about the food. They seem to be expanding big time, though.

                  1. re: Rheta

Rheta, I did a look up for the lakeside Tin Fish after that dining segment. It is in Fair Haven, not SCS. Two restaurant openings imminent in SCS this summer, Pegasus in the old Tom's Oyster Bar space on Jefferson at 10 Mile, and a new sandwich spot south of 10 Mile on Jefferson, where 18th Street Deli used to be. No Tin Fish.
