Cafe Rialto in Roslindale

Went here today for the first time, and want to throw out a quick first impression.

First, space, it looks great. Nice clean look, as a former line cook, I am jealous of the new clean kitchen. All in all, compared to Robyn's, the sad factor is not there.....I can have a snack and a beer here without the despair.

Food, I had the buffalo chicken fingers, which were solid (margerine style, for you butter fans....but the cook kept it real, so I give him props for that, i.e, I liked what he did), and didn't try anything else.

All in all a good start, next I would like to try their calamari, and maybe try their pizza.

Well, I'm glad they didn't resurrect the Rialto floor that your sneakers stuck to. Now if only John's Bakery would open for pizza I might move back to Roslindale.

You feel despair at Robyn's? I only feel despair cuz of their gutting those beautiful windows from the previous incarnation but it's kind of crazy and hopping inside. Or is this food despair?

well, in fairness to Robyn's, I have only been in there in the daytime, when I had gotten locked out of my house, and was waiting for my wife to come home, and I got a really bad vibe from it....a "you don't belong here" feel. Maybe it's better at night, and yes, the windows is what perks up Rialto, as compared to the dark and gloom of Robyn's

And you probably don't remember the cool beveled windows that building had, I actually asked the guy working why they got rid of it but he said I needed to speak to a mgr. But my turkey club with potato tots was pretty good, people were joking with us, no weirdness.

Wish I had someone to wait for after my keys disappeared from work yesterday and I paid a vacation's worth of money to the locksmith. Won't be as many food reports coming from me for a while.
