Maria Lorraine beat me to it. Press should fit the bill just fine.

Definitely Press, they have quite a few steak options. The Beef at Farmstead is great, but there is only one choice each day, so it might not be what you're friends are looking for at the time.

how are the duck fat potatos? if you buy a bottle there(we are going on a thursday probably) do you get a bottle of your own opened with corkage?

You may want to call about the corkage policy. I know it's free on Wednesday.

My steak at Farmstead was very tough and chewy. Not what I want in grass-fed beef.

Grass fed can be tough at times, but maybe some of their cuts are better than others. The time I went it was pretty good, not overwhelmingly tender mind you, but good flavor. I wasn't impressed with Farmstead enough to go back anytime soon though to try it again...well maybe when the patio is warm, and LMR starts producing more summertime produce for the kitchen.

Either way, if the steak is varying in quality at Farmstead, that's even more reason to go to Press instead

I don't think the quality varies, just the cut of beef varies from day to day and there is only one steak item on the menu each day. Thus if you aren't looking for that particular cut then you are out of luck.

If you wanted to journey to the city of Napa, Cole's Chop House is certainly an option.

I've thought Cole's to be inferior to Press in both steak and sides.
Your thoughts, DavidT? Have you compared the two?

I concur with ML -- I have eaten at both and would take Press over Cole's any day of the week....

Have not been to Press, so I cannot compare the two.
