I've eaten at all of the above, so I'll make my suggestions (only sticking to those you listed):

Apizz/Crispo/Maialino: Definitely not Crispo. The other two, it depends on what you're looking for. Apizz is really cute, cozy, and a great date location. Maialino is more "typical NYC" restaurant, though certainly nice. The food at both is really good, though there are several other Italian places I would recommend above them.

Keens vs. BLT: Keens, hands down. My favorite steak in the city.

Motorino vs. Keste: I've eaten at each multiple times, and for me Keste is the winner. I just prefer it (much) to Motorino, though you won't go wrong with either.

    Have fun!

        In alphabetical order ...

        Alto
        Babbo
        Convivio
        Dell'Anima
        L'Artusi
        Lupa
        Scarpetta

I might've forgotten one or two, but that's off the top of my head.

Not sure what you mean by "after them", as there are several on the list I might rank ahead of Babbo and Lupa.

The rest of the list, as I said, I would put above Apizz & Maialino for sure, much less Crispo (which I felt was a decent neighborhood spot, at best ... though in the area, I would just go to Scarpetta, even sans res).

Hi there, sorry to interrupt but this is a timely thread as I'm just starting to research for upcoming July trip with family. DH is currently there on business & dined at Alto two nights ago but that's out of our price range for the vacation. Which of the rest* would you recommend taking into account our 11 & 14 yr old girls will be with us. Prefer lively atmosphere & great cocktails always a plus. *Except Babbo as I don't want to battle reservations.

Thanks to the OP, I've noted Keste.

Lupa is pretty casual, lively, has good drinks, and fantastic pasta.

Scarpetta has several outstanding apps, and we've greatly enjoyed the ones we've had at both L'Artusi and Dell'Anima too.

Scarpetta and Convivio are both a price level above Apizz. Not sure if that matters. Apizz has the best hood to go out in before or after.

Well, Scarpetta is right by Meatpacking District. Plenty of places to go out around there, if one's taste runs that way (decidedly not mine.)

2nd for Apizz, especially if you are eating with someone you want to be cozy with.

Apizz definitely over Crispo (haven't been to Maialino) but Apizz is much better than Crispo and the atmosphere is nicer. Crispo is fine if you are in the area and want to share a lot of appetizers for a group.

Keens is my favorite steakhouse in the city and should be chosen over BLT steak and any other!

Keste has a softer, wetter dough which I found to be a bit heavy. Motorino's dough tastes more of fire/smoke with more char bubbles, I find it much lighter.

Other CH'ers led me to Keste over Motorino. And we couldn't have been more pleased!! Service was quick and friendly and the pies were the best we've ever had.
