Echo Park Taco Trucks
After driving past the taco truck / roach coach at Glendale Blvd and Silver Lake Blvd (near those atrocious "lofts" being built that offer spectacular views of Glendale Blvd, other lofts, and the bank - shudder), I have decided to finally venture out and start trying some of the taco trucks that LA has to offer. Any suggestions on where to start? I'm in the Silver Lake / Echo Park cusp - so if I can start close to home, that would be preferred. Also - what does one get at a taco truck? Tacos only? Carne asada, el pastor, carnitas, etc?

not a truck but more of a parking lot ad hoc outdoor restaurant in the parking lot at 2nd/beaudry on thurs-sun. I like it because adding frijoles de olla to my taco is what gives me joy. The meat is good, to but a different style (maybe C. American?). Pastor is spectacular.

i live in echo park as well & i like to venture over to hollywood...the "el matador" truck on western just north of santa monica blvd. has some of the best al pastor tacos i've had in town.
also, i would recommend checking out the great taco hunt blog:
bandini has tried them all!

My favorite is the Taco Zone truck on Alvarado just north of Sunset next to the Von's parking lot. Try the carne asada, carnitas or chorizo tacos.

Not a taco "truck" but more of a stand in front of the Spain Restaurant 1866 Glendale Blvd. Los Angeles right at the entrance to the 2 freeway. Best Chorizo I have ever had. It is run by the cook(s) of the restaurant. He told me they make the chorizo themselves. Also have carne asada and cheek. Carne asada was good, did not have cheek. Chorizo is amazing - unlike anything I have had.
