Lobster Recommendations from Rockland to Portland, ME

I'll be driving down with a group from Rockland to Portland, ME during the middle of June.

Could I kindly request recommendations for good quality, reasonably priced places to get complete steamed lobster meals. I'm organizing a celebratory dinner for the group - but it doesn't have to be uber-fancy - looking for good and simple.

Thanks very much!

  1. If I were you, I'd take the time for a slight detour down the Harpswell peninsula to Dolphin Chowderhouse: great location, very reliably tasty food.

    1. Muscongus Bay Lobster is wonderful.

ditto, love the place, the view, friendly staff, oysters and variety of lobster offerings, i.e. hard shell soft shell two fers threefers etc, however corn in the spring is probablky a bit old and from florida but who comes to maine for corn in the spring!

      2. Call the Rockland ahead and they'll make a lobster omelet or order lobster rolls for brakfast. We enjoy their fish cakes & beans for brekkie.
Five Islands is a very beautiful setting for lobster.

        1. If you don't mind good and VERY simple, give Captain Mike a call. They do a great job with groups, and Brunswick is about mid-point between Rockland and Portland.

          1. We've spent a lot of time at Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster on the water in South Freeport, Maine (turn at the big Indian and go straight until you hit the water). They have a separate lobster pound window just for lobster/steamers orders. The other window is for burgers and fried foods. They sell their lobsters by the pound (will cook for you) and they have a 1-lb. steamed lobster meal with steamers and corn on the cob. Their corn bread is really good. My husband goes just for their whoopie pies.

Just ate at Harraseeket; great haddock sandwiches, lobster right off the boat, can't beat it.
                Crowded though with tight parking.
