Rhubarb in Downtown Toronto

Anyone know a grocery store in downtown Toronto that is currently selling fresh rhubarb? I believe it's in season, but I can't find it anywhere!

  1. I don't think it's quite in season yet. Mine in my back yard is just poking out. That said, I have seen some pale variations at the fruit/veg stores along Bloor st in Bloor West Village.

    1. I got some at the SLM north market this past week-end, my guess is that the produce vendors in the south building would have some too. The stuff growing in my backyard is still a couple of weeks away from being abundant enough to harvest some and eat. If you have a sunny patch where you can plant some I highly recommend it, it's very easy stuff to grow!

      1. I've also seen some at the fruit/veg market on Bloor and Manning.

I also saw it at Fiesta Farms, probably about a month ago.

        1. bought some at Loblaws (Leslie&Lakeshore) about a week ago.

Forced rhubarb has been in season in Ontario since late January. As it winds down, there will be field rhubarb (fairly soon). You should certainly ask your grocer about it if you want Ontario rhubarb between January and July - it IS out there. Somewhere...

          2. They had Rhubarb at Loblaws (Christie & Dupont) on Sunday...give them a shout before you go as they generally have a limited quantity (ask for Produce Department) when you call .
BTW,,it looked great, lovely red medium size stalks!
