Napa dinner recommendation
First post on Chowhound so apologies if I'm breaking etiquette. I am going with my wife and another couple to Napa in mid May and have been designated the person responsible for selecting our dinner choice for Sat night. We generally use Michelin ratings as a rough guide when traveling places, but it's a bit of a moot point in Napa where that doesn't really narrow the list down much. I know French Laundry is the trendy pick, but there is no way we are getting a reservation there in such short notice, and that may be a little more than we are looking to spend.
I have heard good things about Redd. Any recommendations for a memorable dinner are much appreciated.
right now, the Restaurant at Meadowood is riding high after the 4 star review from the Chronicle, but I think the style of dining is a bit stiff and the food very esoteric. For memorable, we always go to Terra. The Chef, Hiro Sone, has proven over the years, to have the most solid kitchen in the valley. The dining room is very comfortable and the waitstaff very professional. Since they lost their wine inventory in a fire a few years ago, the wine list is smaller than expected, but still very nice. Enjoy our valley!
