Maybe this link will lead you to a source. This recipe appears to be French and has almonds as well as chocolate and rum:
http://www.francethisway.com/frenchre...The only thing I have that is remotely close is a marble rum cake, which is actually a brioche. If you're interested, let me know and I'll paraphrase the recipe here.

me to Burger Boy.Thank you Burger Boy for the suggestion.!
Your suggestion of the Eagle Rock Bakery & Deli was right on.
Ordered a custom 8” “French Chocolate Rum Cake” and it is almost like Sarno’s.
The icing/frosting is chocolate fudge, good but not exactly like Sarno’s.
Substituted the pineapple filling with vanilla and the alternate filling layer is chocolate.
Maybe a little too much Rum on the cakes, but it works.

Try Eagle Rock Italian Bakery & Deli, Claros in San Gabriel (I think they get there stuff from Federicos Bakeries), or maybedo a Yelp serac for Italian Bakeries.I MISS Sarnos very much. I still see the daughter in the neighborhood at her place Mama Mia Cafe on Vermont, right across from the old Sarnos. Oh how I miss the cannolis. CiaoBurger Boy Jun 17, 2009 07:53AM
