Cocktail Reception - Midtown Any ideas?

Am looking for a place near the Time Life/News Corp building to hold a small (20 people) cocktail reception. We had a similar event at Capital Grille and looking to have a nice event that says "Welcome to NY." Unfortunately, budget is tight for this event so about 60-70pp if possible. It has to come under $1400 for everything! Was thinking of Bar Americain, Brasserie 8 1/2, Beacon but all of them put me over the $1500 mark.

  1. Might be too late, but the Capital Grille has a great $25 pp wine tasting promotion going on right now. That could make for a fun cocktail hour.

    1. i don't know the prices but perhaps bryant park grill/cafe could set you up with a special. the roof is a great spot over looking the park.

      1. For a "welcome to New York" experience that's a cocktail hour, the folks at The Top of the Tower in the Beekman Tower hotel do a good job. Sadly, their dinners leave a little to be desired, but they sure can throw a cocktail party (with hors d'oeurves; the usual culprits) and it's in one of the most obscure high-up rooms in the city. They building (and the bar) ar art-deco treasures and of course the view is breathtaking.
