Mother's Day Brunch '10

Who has a good Mother's Day Brunch this year? I'm looking for something not too ethnic-y (god, I'd love to go to Kanella's but that's out) because my mama is uber-picky. No buffet, but a nice sized menu, nothing too chi chi but not run of the mill. Know what I'm sayin'?

  1. I feel like a broken record, but the Brunch at Beau Monde always seems to work for different folks. They have actual breakfast foos or you can stick with crepes from the regular menu - my go to at brunch is smoked trout and leeks

      Not diverse enough. :(
I'm looking for a place with a typical brunch-y menu but that's more modern and less inn-like.

    2. My daughter likes to take me to brunch annually.

From recent experience, I'd avoid London, perhaps consider The White Dog.

This year we're going to Marigold again, but with a new chef I expect it to be an entirely different, yet still enjoyable, occasion. Don't think that would suit your mother.

      1. Perhaps Cafe Estelle? I think it's fantastic, and I'd put it in the category between a standard breakfast place and something fancy. Menus are online, they don't take reservations, though. I'm not sure if that's something you'd want.

If you need a place that takes reservations, perhaps Caribou Cafe on Walnut?

        1. I rank Mother's Day Brunch right up there with Valetine's Day dinner--a time to stay far, far away from overcroweded restaurants that can't help but to have bad service. Why not cook at home and make your mother whatever she really likes? That's what my kids do (of course, they are young, so I end up helping, but that's fun too).
