MUST TRYS? Walnut Hill College restaurants?

I will be in Philly for a few days. What are some restaurants that I can't miss? Also, has anyone been to The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College? There are about 5 restaurants there and they look great from the website and very reasonable.

  1. We went to the College restaurant about a year ago and it was really nice. I could barely find any reviews on it so it made me a little nervous but we had a really nice time. We did the "European courtyard" theme restaurant, and I definitely recommend that one. Really cute atmosphere, made it seem like you were outdoors. Service was great but a little green, since I beleive the students are the servers. Also had a nice dinner, very good for the price. Forget exactly what I had but I do remember being wow-ed by the desserts, pastry students were very ambitious and did a nice job.

But... if you are only going to be in Philly a few days.... there are better local restaurants you should try (I'm sure you'll get lots of responses for recommendations) so I'd only go to the College restaurant if you are staying right there and would not recommend going out of your way for it.

We just had dinner at the Walnut College Restaurant School, and had a great meal at the International Bistro! Great attentive service, great price $21.00 for a 3 course meal and generous servings. The quality of the food was very good and a creative menu!!I'd recommend it!

Just an FYI, The Restaurant School is on summer break as of tomorrow and will not open to the public until early September when the students return. Unfortunately that also includes the pastry shop.

The pastry shop will reopen on Thursday, September 2, and the restaurants will reopen on Tuesday, September 7th.
