2 Questions: Venison and Steak.
Hello All
Very simply two questions:
1. Where can I get a great Venison (steak, not stew) in Manhattan? Ever since Fleur de Sel closed, I haven't found any restaurant that has Venison, let alone a great Venison. Price is not an issue here, portion however is. I want the Venison dish to be filling, even it is part of a tasting menu.
2. Where can I get a good, big portion steak for under $30? I eat my steak rare to medium rare, and prefer a thicker piece of meat. It can be fatty, I don't mind. Flavor is key here; and yes I've been to Keen's but the pub room portions were tiny.
Thanks so much everyone.

re: uwsister
If you like GREAT venison, I'd suggest buying it from the source. Brady Ranch in Florida markets axis deer and it is like no other venison available.

Venison is on Dovetail's website menu. Don't know if it's up-to-date, but worth calling to check.

Our dinner a Dovetail a few months ago was excellent.

Hi there
try Double Crown or Public, they nearly always have venison on the Menu - and it's farm raised New Zealand venison too, so guranteed tender and delicious.
If you want to buy some retail go to wholefoods, Fairway Markets or Balduccis.
Cheers
