Pumpkin scone recipe?
Hello. I'm a displaced New Yorker seeking to satisfy an urgent craving for pumpkin scones sold at Alice's Tea Cup. If you've tried those scones, you'll know why. Anyone have any recipe suggestions to replicate the deliciousness of Alice's Tea Cup's?
While I have never had that particular scone, King Arthur Flour just posted a recipe for a pumpkin scone that looks awesome. Go to http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/2... maybe just google " king arthur blog", probably easier. It's the last post and I'll be making it soon.
i wanted to bump this because i'd like to know a delicious pumpkin scone recipe, too. maybe you also asked on the manhattan board, too?
i'm enjoying your other posts, as well. ;-).
after some research, which i share, here are some thoughts, fwiw.
this scone of theirs with ham and cheese looks like a biscuit! http://blondieandbrownie.blogspot.com/2009/07/savory-sweet-and-utterly-scrumptious.html
i usually expect a different crumb from scones -- drier, finer (at least the ones i had in england)....
does the pumpkin scone have a similar crumb as the ham & cheese scone there? in this photo, it looks as if the pumpkin scone is like a quick bread in size and texture. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14305878@N06/3474016519/
here, too, it looks like a biscuit: http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2008/10/pumpkin-sugar-rush-alices-tea-cup-upper-east-side-scones-nyc.html
>>"""There's an abundant variety of scones at Alice's Tea Cup. From buttermilk chocolate chip to strawberry cream cheese, the traditional British-style scones are shunned in favor of large and sweet American takes on this beloved baked good. Fall months usher in the return of Alice's famed pumpkin scone. It's addictive, with its buttery crust and easy-to-love crumb that is gentle and moist. Spices are noticeably light, but a deliciously shiny pour of sticky caramel glaze makes for a scone that is more childish than classy."""<<<
i'm wondering if it might be like a southern-style sweet potato biscuit?
ha, alice's tea cup's scones have their own twitter account. ;-)). http://twitter.com/AlicesTeaCup
