Recs for Small Bachelorette Dinner

  • 2

Four of us are taking a foodie bachelorette out for a nice dinner. The bachelorette enjoys quality food as well as fun, hip atmosphere (but nothing too too crazy). Any recommendations? So far, I have looked at Perry Street, A Voce Madison, and Sho Shaun, but I have never eaten in those places so I don't know about the atmosphere (plus I've read mixed reviews on A Voce food). I would appreciate all suggestions. Also, any ideas for a swanky rooftop bar for a pre-dinner drink and perhaps appetizer? Thanks.

  1. Of the three you mention, we've been to A Voce Madison and SHO.

We ate at A Voce just after it opened with Carmellini in charge of the kitchen. The food was excellent, but the noise level was deafening! To me, that's intolerable. Ergo, we've never been back.

Our one meal at SHO was stellar, and we loved the atmospherics. But it is definitely not a fun, hip place.

I would suggest SD26. (Hey, rrems! We went back!) The food's delicious, and it has something of a hip feel. While the noise level in the bar area is insanely high, the dining room has a lively vibe without inducing a headache and forcing you to shout to carry on a conversation.

    1. I think Artisinal fits your parameters well. I had a small bachelorette for a friend there (after amssages in Korea town) and the vibe and food were just right.
