New Paltz - Restaurant Suggestions for Sat afternoon family lunch

  • 4

We're going to New Paltz this Saturday to tour the school, because my son is interested in teaching. A tour is given in the morning. Afterwards we'd like to go to lunch. Nothing fancy, just good! The last time I was in New Paltz was in the mid 1970's when my sister went there, and all I remember is a not-so-terrific diner just off the exit with very greasy onion rings, which made me sick the whole way home!

Any suggestions for a nice lunch in New Paltz? Thank you. Barbgail61

      1. The Bakery is great for lunch! I also like Mexicali Blue. Good luck to your son!

        1. Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions. Would you believe, Main Street Bistro had a long wait? I guess all of us visitors touring the campus read this board and heard that it was good? Anyway, we ended up right next door, the name of which I can't remember but it had "Moon" in it, like "Moon Cafe" or something similar. It had an inviting front porch with tables, and was casual but fine. We had falafel platters and sandwiches, which had sprouts, eggplant, etc. And my son had a good cheeseburger and fries. Very reasonable. We also checked out the vintage record shop right next door but on church street. And the campus was very nice and much more developed than it was in the 1970's, the last time I was there! Barbgail61
