lunch at Gotham Bar & Grill for dad's 80th birthday?

We have 3 adventurous eaters, 1 vegetarian & 1 person who needs plain food. What are your thoughts on Gotham Bar & Grill?

  1. My husband and I went recently and while food was good enough, I didn't think it was very special or festive. However it would suit the need of the person who needs plain food as I remember many dishes were cooked in a simple manner.

    1. I just went for lunch and i thought it was honestly depressing. The food is good, yet you get what you expect most of the time. It's much better for dinner when there are alot of other people there. Last time i went For lunch there were only a few other diners there.

      For lunch I would recommend Eleven Madison Park. Gorgeous space especially this time of year when the sunlight floods into the room and the flowers are blooming.

        Amen! :)

        We just had lunch there again. As usual, stellar cuisine. And the yellow floral arrangements, which were done just that morning, were spectacular!

              Did you guys have the two courses? and was the chicken an option on the menu or was it a sort of an exception. I don't remember many meat items on the menu for lunch, though its fine because the fish there is generally extraordinary.

                Yes, this time, we each ordered two courses + dessert. The chicken for two is listed on the regular menu and does not carry a supplement. RE: other non-fish/seafood dishes, there are three on the regular menu: beef tenderloin, cochon de lait, and lamb.

                I agree that the fish and seafood dishes are outstanding!

                  I had that beef tenderloin when i went for dinner! it was delicious!

                  Their cochon de lait is one of the best dishes i've ever had. I do remember eating it at lunch, and i always get it whenever I go.

                    The tenderloin was delicious. But what really knocked my gustatory socks way off was the Potato Cream with Braised Oxtails that came with it.

                    Potato Cream:

                    The cochon de lait is relatively new. Only been on the menu since this winter. I'm wondering if you might be confusing it with Chef Humm's famous suckling pig? After having been on the menu for ever so long, finally remoed it to make room for cochon.

                      Yes sorry i'm just referring to his suckling pig preparations in general. And yes the side dishes were rich and delicious.
