Restaurant and Bars search returning everything
I was trying to find the restaurants in the town of Pescadero, Ca to reply to a visitor query.
In the past, leaving the restaurant box blank and just entering the city and state would get the desired results. Now it returns everything ... and to make things works ... selecting the relevance radio button doesn't even push the businesses in this town to the top

Did this just start with yesterday's release, or has it been a problem longer than that?

i'm asking myself the same thing. From the front page for the region, I think this might have been in existence before, but I'm not sure. From an individual restaurant's page, which is where I use this search the most to find another record, it is definitely a new problem.

Thanks for reporting this, yes, I've noticed it too. It seems that it is not possible to type over the town field to do a search. I mean you can delete and type in the field, but the search engine uses what was there before. The work-around is to pull up a restaurant in Pescadero, e.g., Duarte's. At the top of the page, Pescadero, CA will be in the search box. You can click on this and get everything in that town.
However, this is a bug that needs to be fixed if Chow expects to hold onto eyeballs that land on the site that try to search by town.

Hmmm ... when I try that I get everything in Duarte, CA ... didn't even know that city existed until now

A while back there was a mention of a change to search happening about April 1st. However, I am not seeing anything about that. Don't make me read the Site Talk board ... that's always big trouble.
