Abe & Arthurs or Bagatelle?

  • 6

Which restaurant would you recommend for a fun dinner for my husband's birthday? We would like a place in the meatpacking district- would you recommend Abe & Arthurs, Bagatelle, or something else? Thanks for your help!!

  1. If you care about the food, go to Scarpetta...if you don't, go to A&A's...Bagatelle is a complete unmitigated disaster...

Love Abe & Arthur's... Delicious popovers for all and excellent offerings (i really like the mussels!) for those who aren't necessarily porterhouse lovers.. Enjoy!

Why do you say it's a disaster? I have been there once before and it was overwhelmingly crowded but I got the feeling that it would be more fun than A&A??

cuz the food is dreadful at bagatelle...

Bagatelle and A&A are clearly far more about the scene than the food....A&A leans more towards wall street/ hedge fund guys throwing money around and Bagatelle leans more towards rich Euro's throwing their money around....that being said, I think A&A's steaks are considerably better than the garbage they serve at bagatelle....if you want good food in the meatpacking with a fun atmosphere (but nearly as high energy or sceney) go to Scarpetta....

Abe and Arthurs. Was actually at SL (the lounge below) last night. Well operated, decent food, fun scene.

        3. well what are you looking for? The food is not the reason you go to either, its really to go drink and party. I'd probably go to A&A and then go to SL below.
