First visit in six years
Hi fellow hounds, just wanted to let folks know that we went to Erte last night for dinner with friends from out of town. It had been six years since our last visit, and we were a little apprehensive due to the dinning room having only about 4 tables seated at 7:00 PM. Happily I can report that nothing has changed in the food at Erte, it was a fantastic meal! We all ordered steaks, 3 of the house special, a 10oz Prime Sirloin and one ordering the filet. The steaks were perfect, nice char and done exactly as ordered. We also ordered potato au gratin with Gruyere cheese & caramelized onions and hunny bunny carrots with ginger butter. The real star of the evening was the au gratin, we almost licked the serving dish clean before we remembered our manners. The Gruyere created a crust on the bottom and top that was just unreal, with the onions adding a nice sweetness to the dish it was fantastic! In addition, all salad dressings are made in house, the Green Goddess took me back to my childhood and my great aunt's steakhouse in northern MN.
The one change that was evident immediately is they have expanded and opened a full bar, The Peacock Lounge, one of the nicest bars in N.E. IMHO. And with draft pints at 5, and full 23oz at 6, it was a bargain.
Do yourself a favor and check the place out if you have not been, and if like us you have not been there for a while, go back!
