Authentic Filipino Cuisine
Magic Wok's main menu is Chinese, and I only heard about its Filipino menu by chance (my family is Filipino and a friend of my father's asked him if he'd tried the place). Anyway, however we got there, I'm glad we tried it.
Fair Warning: When you first drive up, it looks a little iffy. That is, the neighborhood isn't great. But if you can get past that, and get to the food...
Ohhh, the food! It's AUTHENTIC FILIPINO. It had my parents telling stories about "back home." What better recommendation can I give you than that? It's like eating at your Lola's house without actually having to hop a plain back to the islands.
The service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I can't remember all the dishes we tried, but they got my favorite (kare-kare) just right. And for dessert there was halo-halo.
If you're in the area, and you're looking for something a little different, try the Filipino Menu at Magic Wok.

My Filipina friend told me she likes the one in downtown Miami. She never did give me the address. Anyone has some idea where it is?
I usually (though not frequently) go to Pampanguena way down south. It's more a grocery store with a cafetaria and a few tables in the back.

Magic Wok is now out of business, there's a For Rent sign in the window. I'm sad that I didn't get a chance to try the Filipino menu, but it seems like they closed the door sometime in May, I was hoping they were just on vacation...
There's more bad news a few blocks to the South at Bangkok Palace, they're gone too.

re: RickL
Yep, I'll miss it too, it was one of the few Thai places that didn't disappoint when I ordered "Thai hot."
Having said that, they could never seem to get a take out order correct via the phone, they botched it every time. To make matters worse, when I complained about it, they copped an attitude and acted like I was trying to cheat them! I won't miss that. It certainly cost them some business from my office, but I doubt it had a significant impact.

Yes, Magic Wok practically across from my office as well. Agree with Semprini about having Silver Pond and Hong Kong City (love LOVE it for excellent dim sum and bbq duck and pork)....but we're also lucky enough to have Bangkok Palace, Saigon City and Pho Hoa right nearby as well....a paradise of delicious diversity on scenic State Road 7! Now can't wait to get to Magic Wok for a Filipino lunch. Thanks YumBunni!!

Thanks for the recommendation, It's across from my office and I have their Chinese menu, but didn't know about the Filipino fare. To be honest, I've never eaten there because we have Silver Pond and Hong Kong City on either side!
And Frodnesor, it's in the first plaza south of Commercial on the West side.
