Help me choose between 1550 Hyde, Frascati or Luella please!

  • 1

I have been to both Frascati and Luella before (it's been a few years) but never 1550 Hyde . I will be taking a couple of out of town guests on either a Friday or Saturday. Both enjoy food and are not picky. A warm, charming ambiance is ideal as is quality of food.

  1. I have been to all three you have mentioned.

All of them are great choices, from the food to the neighborhood but if I were to choose which one to go back to the most it would for sure be Frascati.

I love the atmosphere, the small open kitchen and the food is delicious. I would recommend getting the gnocchi as an appetizer( however way they prepare it that night), and the duck confit salad to share.

For mains, the Pork Chop and the Maple Leaf Duck breast are very nicely done.

And please, please get the Warm Black and White Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert. It is still my favorite bread pudding that I have tasted anywhere.

Overall its just a nice, quiet, really well done neighborhood restaurant that for me can also be called a SF destination restaurant. But, you haven't tried 1550 Hyde yet and that may be a good opportunity to be able try the other top Nob Hill restaurant. Frascati for me best fits what you say in your last sentence: warm, charming, and great quality food.
