i has a friend in the crowsnest that has a bad wheat allergy,is the any recs for good bakerys restuarants and grocers that cater to this dilema.i can see her eyeing my pizza with tears in her eyes.thanks guys.
UNA pizza does a gluten free crust and Lakeview Bakery does offer a lot of gluten free products as well. As well, many restaurants now have a gluten free menu if you ask for it - ex. Joeys Restaurants, Tony Roma's, etc.
Simple Simon's Pies opened another stand at the Calgary's Farmer's Market that specializes in pre-made entrees and they say that the majority of their entrees are gluten free.
In addition, she probably already knows this if she has known she's celiac for awhile but Community Natural Foods tags all their foods with GF if it's Gluten Free.
Found the link previously posted on Chowhound (couldn't find the actual post): Calgary Celiac Association Members' Choice restaurants http://www.debdebdeb.com/celiacdb/res....
Also this one for bakeries, stores, etc: http://www.debdebdeb.com/celiacdb/gfo...
Found both these links here: http://www.calgaryceliac.com/
The Calgary Celiac Assoc is having a special "market" on Saturday - May 15th. at the Quality Hotel Calgary Airport & Conference Centre (corner of McKnight Blvd & Edmonton Trail) from 10 am to 4 pm. There will be lots of vendors - all gluten free. Tell your friend or maybe go shopping on her behalf.
