Driving I-55 from Jackson, MS To Baton Rouge, Looking for a Lunch Spot to kick-off the trip

I was lucky enough to be able to snag 2 free flights to Jackson for the 2nd weekend of Jazz Fest, as all free flights into NO were either blacked out or sold out.

This is my GF's 1st time in the Deep South (my parents live in BR, I went to college in NO), so food is a focal point of our trip. I've already got our New Orleans itinerary set. But I'd love to grab something interesting in/around Jackson or between there and Baton Rouge, where we're staying for a night. My flight gets in at 11 am, so I don't think I'd want to wait too long before stopping.

I'm pretty much up for anything and my GF is a vegetarian(always eats seafood) who cheats if she deems its worth it. Probably not looking for anything that would take too long. But would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanks!

Lumpkin's BBQ @ 182 Raymond Rd., Jackson, MS. 601 - 373 - 7077. Take Exit # 43B to Terry Rd. and left on Raymond Rd. This will take you off your I 55 South Rt. by 10/15 minutes but good BBQ.

The Mayflower in downtown Jackson has great seafood and atmosphere.

Stamps had a family feud I think. It's Cool Al's now and located on McWillie Dr. in N. Jackson west side of I 55 west of Highland Village. I don't think the old site is in business but it could be still there. This would be out of the OP's way if he's leaving A/P for I 55 South.

Cool Al's belongs to the son, Algernon (as does the recently opened "Burgers and Blues in Centerpark).

But Stamp's is still there, both the original location and the Byram location referenced above. At least they looked open last week!

What's Stamp's address for the two places. Only one I have is Cool Al's.
