Birthday Dinner- Need Rec's- We love yummy food

My bday is this weekend and hubby is taking me out. I'm down to try AOC or Animal but am thinking we're too late on the reservations. Would love additional rec's, especially ones in the South Bay, Long Beach/Seal Beach area.

For the South Bay area I'd recommend Cafe Pierre in Manhattan Beach - chef Remi Lauvand (from Citrus at Social) is there now and he's great.

but I agree w/ others I don't think it's necessarily too late to score a reservation now for either Animal or AOC.

I would definitely call today and try to get a reservation at Animal if you've been dying to try it. I doubt you're too late to score a reservation for Saturday night, it just might not be right at prime time.

Might not be festive enough, but we had a five minute wait to get seats at the bar at Animal last Saturday night at 8.
