Chow in Metairie for Jazz Fest?

We're a group of Jazz Fest regulars that ended up with reservations for a hotel in Metairie this year. Can you folks help us with some recommendations for local restaurants in that area? Nothing too fancy--just some good seafood/Louisiana cooking around Metairie. There will be 8-12 of us for dinner, so a place that could accommodate a large group would be helpful. Thanks!

  1. Definitely hit up Charlie's Seafood on Jefferson Highway in Harahan. Everything is awesome; especially don't miss the dirty boy.

    1. Absolutely hit Impastato's

      Another suggestion is Ristorante Filippo

If you're looking for really late night, good cafe grub, City Diner is good.

I'd skip Impastatos as well. Bozos hasIMO the best oyster po boys in NOLA, 21st St.

+2 on Ristorante Filippo. Very solid Italian with wonderful, sweet staff. Philip himself is usually there supervising, and they make fabulous martinis. Also, it is not to be discounted that the venerable New Orleans food critic B. Anderson dubbed them as having some of the best meatballs in the greater NO area. It's probably worth your time...

          3. Drago's, the original location, is in Metairie

Drago's Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar

                Another vote for Drago's.

Also I'm a fan of Vega's Tapas on Metairie Road. We like doing the Chef's choice i.e., a "Feed Me"

              2. Sid-Mar's....new location justoff Vets. They are trying to rebuild the business after katrina wiped out their place on the Lake. Good, basic local stuff

                1. Vega Tapas is excellent. It's fairly small but I think you'd be fine with a reservation. Chateau du lac is right next door, if you're looking for classic French. There's also Crazy Johnny's (right next to Drago's), which has the best bbq shrimp in town, imo. Cafe East is decent chinese/asian.

I second Vega. We always eat there during the fest when everything else is packed. We've never needed a reservation and they're open until midnight on the weekends now.

                  2. Oh, and if you go to Drago's, I'd recommend sticking to the Charbroiled Oysters. I've never been a fan of anything else they serve. Oysters are great though.

Also agree with the Galley recommendation.

                    1. Rivershack Tavern
                      Galley Seafood
                      Mr. Ed's

                      1. I recommend Drago's and Deenies, and although others may not be as positive, I've found Acme on Veteran's in Metairie to be fine.

                        1. City diner is great for breakfast or late night.
