Deli Cart Sausages

pbelanger Apr 20, 2010 03:04 PM

Anyone know where they can be bought, in west end Toronto? ever since Dominion went Metro, I haven't been able to find them.

I think you can buy these at Costco.

I'm not sure they're they same but they're labled "Deli Cart." They're the same type of sausage though. I've been told the dog vendors buy theirs from European meats. They're a "Debreziner".

Yup, the Euro Meats Debreziner's are awesome. That's where I get mine

One branch is in Kensington Market. I believe the main shop is in Etobicoke.

My parents recently went to a hot dog wholesale/vendor up in North York (Soloway's Deli & Hot Dog Emporium at 913 Alness St, 416-661-3336 ).

OMG! The sausages are soooooo good on the BBQ. Just like the street meat and not "sawdust" tasting like a lot of the grocery stores. They are big too. You can also get those authentic yellow buns with the poppy seeds.

And the price: 5lbs for $11...cant beat that.

I plan on visiting for myself soon.

Apparantly, there is another location downtown:

                Soloways Hotdog Factory Outlet
                79 Richmond Street East, Toronto, ON M5C 3A6, Canada‎- (416) 350-8385‎

Yeah, I've been there. It's a supplier for the street meat carts. Those carts get a lot of flack on this board, but man, they do a good job when you're in that craving mode.

The OP is referring to Deli Cart sausages, from David Gordon Co. of London, Ont.
They were carried in some Dominions, but not Metro.
They are in Costco every summer, either pork sausage or all beef . I like the pork sausages, but the all beef have their following as they are similar to in taste profile to Nathan's.

If you want the real thing try Champs Food Supply, 11 Widmer (King and John).
Champs supplies most of the carts on the street.
Condiments by the gallon. hot dogs, sausages, buns etc. at great prices.

Just finished two Debreziner's from Euromeats. Quite nice, but not as good as Deli Cart, IMO. Will try the italian next time, for a ,little kick. Thanks for the tip.
