What's the buzz on 86 West in Doylestown?

I went there over the holidays and had great tapas & service. Just wondering how they are holding up with time, as I might be heading back. Anyone have experience to share?

  1. My husband and I dined at 86 West last night. THe place was packed, which was a good sign, but I have to say we were very disappointed overall. We had very bad service, and the food was bland bland bland! We both got 3 small plates (which was a good deal at $26 bucks). My husband had the macaroni and cheese, pommes frites w/ 3 dipping sauces, and the cheeseburger. The macaroni and cheese was good, but not overwhemlingly great. The pommes frites and burger were BLAND! What surprised us: The burger had bacon on it, and it was STILL bland. How do you have bland bacon?:
I had chorizo in a blanket with a dijon mustard sauce, chicken wings, and oyster po boys. The chorizo was nothing more than pigs in a blanket - didn't even taste like chorizo. The oysters were not cleaned, and the coating was bland. THe wings, however, were good.
Our waitress was inattentive, rude, and rushed us through our meal. Overall, it was an awful experience, and we won't be going back.

Isn't 86 West supposed to have an East West theme including a sushi bar? Anyone had their Asian inspired food?

There is a sushi bar, but I haven't tried it. Not a fan, myself. Maybe someone else has a comment on that.

    2. OK food, slow kitchen/service - ALWAYS ask about drink prices before ordering.
