Persepolis, Peckham/London

As a new resident of the area, I recently ventured into this great Iranian/Persian grocery shop. I picked up some fresh dates at £2.69 for a pretty large box (which were the best I've had) along with some homemade tzatziki at £.99 for a tub, so the prices aren't bad. The range of dried herbs, spices and nuts is staggering. They also have a range of Middle Eastern pastries and chilled desserts. I'll definitely be heading back there for a proper browse and to pick up some more dates. The owners are lovely, so if you're in the area, make sure you drop by.

Persepolis is great - I always pop in when I'm in the area.

I buy all my pulses and most spices there. Did you check out all the funny signs? They also have their own cookbook written by Sally, the woman with the red hair.

The signs were funny, I saw the one by the counter about putting sweets by the cashier so kids could force parents into buying them.

I now know who Sally is - she served me and thought she looked quite cool with the mad red hair!

I'll can't wait toget back to sample the baklavas and pastries!
