Great Bread @ Union Station Market

Last night after work I picked up a baguette at the little market outside Union Station. This was a really nice sized loaf (much bigger than other ones I've bought from bakeries), crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. At $2, quite a bargain.

The bakery selling the baguettes (and other loaves and rolls) is Lyon Bakery. They mainly sell bread to restaurants and caterers, but they're at the market (I think they told me) all spring and summer.

I'm going to try one of their round loaves next (only $3 for them!)

If you like good bread, check them out.

I second this rave. Baguettes for $2. Huge loaves and challahs for $3. Other rolls and breads. This is a great dinner option if you come through Union Station after work. They're open 7-7 Monday to Saturday and a shorter time on Sunday.

I've been buying rolls at 25 cents each. I've had both the rosemary and the whole wheat, and for the price they can't be beat. The guy working there told me you can also special-order off their webside and they'll bring your bread to station.

I work right next to Union Station. Where exactly is this market located?

Thank you for your recommendation -- we at Lyon appreciate it and are thrilled at being mentioned on chowhound! We're trying to spread the word about our summer stall at Union Station :-). How wonderful to read such positive reviews from your readers. Thanks again.

I wonder if you could post the nutritional info for the whole wheat bread. I'm enjoying it, but would like to know a little more about what I'm eating -- particularly sodium count. Vendor told me info was on the website, but last time I looked it was not. Thanks very much.
