Kelly's Hot Dogs, Ballston Spa: Almost as good as Gus's

I sometimes get a half dozen of these little babies and sit somewhere and share them with the dog; today I sat in the joint and chatted with Kelly and the other customers; it's really a very pleasant spot to enjoy a plateful of little hot dogs. I get them with the works, which I think is onions, relish, and meat sauce; the sauce is particularly good, a little on the spicy side. It's the same little Helmbold's hot dogs as Gus's in Watervliet serves, but Gus's serves thousands a week, Kelly probably hundreds. Gus's hot dogs are also delicious, but you have to eat them on the hood of your car, because there's nowhere at Gus's to sit.

  1. Have had their dogs, and they are good. Can't comment on Gus's, since, surprisingly as a native of the Capital District, I've never been there. But we do have a Hot Dog Charlies in Saratoga Springs, on Caroline Street, and as far as I am concerned Hot Dog Charlies is the creme de la creme of mini dogs. Course parking is a problem in downtown Saratoga.
