Fried Chicken - Near Fairfield

runningGirl Apr 19, 2010 05:33 PM

As a transplant from the South, I'm hoping to find a good southern fried chicken place near Fairfield, willing to travel, maybe New Haven has some good soul food? Can anyone recommend a place? I'm really craving good fried chicken, about to book a plane ticket to get a fix.

Drumstik BBQ on Main St in Bridgeport is the best around.

Agree with you on the Drumstik. IT is not as good as when I make it myself but for store bought it is not bad. Jay

the fried chicken at taste of charleston in norwalk was pretty good. wash it down with some fried okra and fried green tomatoes to complete the meal.

You said you'd go to New Haven; if so, Mama Mary's Soulfood has great fried chicken, et. al. http://www.mamassoulfood.com/

Across the street from Edge of the Woods market on Whalley Avenue; I usually park in there and walk across the street.

And I like Drumstik BBQ for their roasted chicken; I never had their fried, but I bet it's good.
