Agreed, we were going to go there but it's closed on Mondays

It might be closed for longer than Mondays if the Feds have their way:

Wow, talk about "No soup for you."

I'm a bit ambivalent about the food they had there, but it still sucks to get shut down like that.

            1. re: hye

Duck pate in the deli case is very good and they make a good omelette. Wish they would pick on some place that sucks.

They have excellent Eggs Benedict with scratch made hollandaise.

        2. re: Captain Jack

Thanks, Captain Jack! The French Gourmet is still here, running business as usual. Stop by for our Soupe a l'oignon gratinee anytime! Make it a delicious day!

        3. Up here in Carlsbad ,a place called Koko Beach (bar/restaurant) makes a great one.

                michelle coulon, so good!

I've seen it at Bully's steakhouse

I don't know the onion soup at Michele Coulon Dessertier, but are you sure Bully's serves it? I don't recall seeing it described that way on the Bully's menu, and their version isn't worth writing home about, unless you live in a Campbell's soup can on Saline Blvd.

Ha ha! I just remember when we used to go there occasionally they had it as part of the meal 'soup or salad' kind of deal!

              2. I recently had good onion soup at The Butcher Shop in Clairemont.
