Brunch/Lunch near the Loop

I'm planning a brunch for family (about 8 people) after a law school graduation in the Loop. I'm looking for a spot with nice ambiance (preferably high ceilings) and good natural light with great brunch/lunch food. It will be at 2pm. Atwood Cafe looks great, but it's a tad bit pricier than I'd like. Suggestions, please??

Thanks for the recommendations! This will be on a Sunday, but we just learned that the graduation is ending later in the afternoon, so this will be more like an early dinner. So, Petterino's looked like a good option but it doesn't really do dinner.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Huh? They serve from their dinner menu all day long on Sundays.

Other places in the Loop that are open on Sundays and might also work for you include the Gage ( www.thegagechicago.com ), Vivere ( www.vivere-chicago.com ), Rhapsody ( www.rhapsodychicago.com ), and Park Grill ( www.parkgrillchicago.com ).

Heaven on Seven's location in the Loop (on Wabash) is closed on Sundays.

Terzo Piano is the restaurant in the new Modern Wing of the Art Institute. It is high ceilinged and airy, but you may find that the price points are more than you want to spend, given your concerns about Atwood. Here is the link to their lunch menu. http://www.terzopianochicago.com/menu.... They serve lunch until 3 pm

I hate to do this, but Petterinos in my opinion is not good. I have been there twice - once my decision and once someone else's and both times were just plain bad. I normally like Lettuce (leye.com) restaurants but this one is dreadful. Bad service (both times), bad food - uninspired and cold (both times) - this place will pack them in due to location and revolving groups of theater go'ers tourists, but you can do much better. Try Osteria Via Stato less than 1 mile N. and you'll be much happier.

            Petterino's?

Most of the others I'd suggest (Mercat, Lockwood, Custom House) are at the Atwood price point.

Heaven on Seven on Wabash might do something special for you at 2:00, but not a lot of natural light there.

We come into town every year around this time and Heaven on Seven is always a brunch destination...loads of fun, great people watching.
