Hi CHers,
Looking for a rec for a private room or space in a resto, where we can fit about 40, and do a set menu for under/at $25/head. Somewhere TTC accessible and decent parking options. Have put in an email to Harbord House based on reading other recs on the board, wondered if I'm missing anywhere else? Thanks.

See if you can get the entire Beaconsfield. They have a fantastic set menu for $25 (i just planned an event there). There's parking and the Queen streetcar goes right past the joint.

There's also the Duke of York on Prince Arthur. They have a few private rooms or private areas that could accommodate 40. At least one of their set menus is $23/person but your vegs would have to like fish. However, they say they will customize a menu for a group.

I've been to functions there and found everything enjoyable and well-planned / executed.

Fieramosca has an upstairs room that seats about 40. Their website says they will create a custom menu for groups so maybe they can come up with something for $25 a head.

Le Select has a room at the back (and a back patio) and they are very accommodating in terms of setting a menu...

Depending on the appetites, you may be able to make it work at Terroni - the Balmoral location has a side room that would probably seat 40. I've hosted a couple of larger dinners there, pre-ordered in advance and had it served "family style" on large platters (which I really love). You might be closer to $25 with tax but before tip (and drinks) but depends on how much your crowd eats. There is a green "p" across the street and you're 2 blocks south of St. Clair station. You might also look at Tabule or Grano, both close to Davisville station (and nearby street parking). Given that most people won't eat a whole app plus main plus dessert, the family platters are a good way of allowing you to offer you a variety of courses while still managing the quantity of food (and therefore the price). Or what about a few large round tables for Chinese/dim sum?

Grano's set menus start at $30 before tax and tip. I think it might be tricky to find a place that can do 2 to 3 courses for $25 all in.

oh believe me, i know. my colleagues really think $25 is a deal-breaking price, I'd much prefer to bum to $50.

so far, success from Granite, Tabule. not heard back from Grano. also tried Harbord House and Bodega, not availible in our timeline (5:30-8pm).

Try Caren's Wine Bar - they have a perfect room upstairs. Not sure of their cost, however.

That's a great suggestion. They may be able to do something with two courses for that. They also have a lovely back patio which may work as well.

Hi LL - can you please elaborate on your price point? Food only? Food plus drink? Tax? Tip? Thanks.

Fie on me for being cryptic.
$25 for food, gratuity and tax, no drinks. ideally a 2 or 3 course meal.
and i should mention we'll need veg-safe options.

have also looked at Granite Brewery - we know it well and it would be fine, but want somewhere else.

                  Thanks again!
