Soho Hotel Bars

Hi Chowhounds

Going to the Leslie / Lohman gallery in Soho this Saturday evening. Would like a place to meet friends before or after - for cocktails & conversation. Recently, I've discovered I love going to some of New York's finer hotel bars because they provide a sophisticated atmosphere, lower noise levels & less dense crowds. Love the bar at Gilt. So am asking - any hotel bars in the Soho area that you would recommend?

Bowery Hotel - great drinks, good service and plush, comfortable couches and armchairs. It's not quite SoHo (more NoHo) but if you're happy to walk a bit, it's worth it.

Soho Grand. Sub-mercer at Mercer Hotel.

I'm not sure what the hours are at sub-Mercer, but it can get quite loud late night, so if you're focus is conversation, I'd look elsewhere. The bar on the second floor at the Thompson Hotel gets sceney later on in the evening, but is a pleasant and comfortable venue to catch up with friends earlier on in the night.
