Looking for Reasonable Meals, Reasonably Priced (Monmouth/Middlesex)

eleeper Apr 19, 2010 06:45 AM

I live right near the Old Bridge/Matawan line, and I'm looking for (relatively) nearby restaurants that provide reasonable meals, reasonably priced. We like to eat out a lot, so we don't want to spend a lot of money, but we want something worth what we pay. It used to be that diners had reasonably priced good food, but lately the diners around here have been going up in price and down in quality.

An example of the sort of place we're looking for would be Shanghai Bun, West Lake, or Pine Tavern. But since we eat out most days, we would like a slightly bigger repertoire.

Shanghai Bun Restaurant
952 State Route 34 Ste 6, Matawan, NJ 07747

Pine Tavern
199 State Highway 34 N, Old Bridge, NJ 08857

In the same area as WestLake (almost across the street) is Denino's pizza. Get a Margarita pie or try a sandwich or a plate of pasta.

Also, next door to Westlake is a thai place called Siam Smiles that makes a decent Pad Thai that is a reasonable meal for about $9.

I've always liked Big Ed's BBQ. And it's hard to beat "all you can eat."

Actually, if you're not a big eater, Big Ed's is not reasonably priced. (Although the current $9.99 special for lunch is not too bad.)

McDonagh's Pub in Keyport on Front St has a good menu and lots of draft beers - prices are reasonable .
