60th Wedding Anniversary Trip to SF

Hello Everyone
My in laws are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary and they are taking the family to SF for a week(there will be 9 people in total). We are staying in the Union Square part of town. Breakfasts will be at the hotel, but I would like to get a list of restaurant ideas for lunch and dinner around the city . WE are open to most cuisines, probably more on the Italian/Med tastes, but we would also love some recs that can only be found in SF. WE are a causal dress group, nothing too fancy. I am also looking for restaurants that are moderately priced. I was thinking of Zuni cafe (lunch or dinner)? A16 and Delphina (I went to sf last month and missed thoses...although chez pannise was the highlight of our weekend!!).
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!!
By the way, I know the wharf is quite "touristy" but I know my dad will want to have a meal there too....He went to Scoma's many years ago and still remembers it!

  1. Here's a list of lists which should give you plenty of info. It has info on the Wharf, fine dining, union square: http://www.chow.com/profile/10264/lis...

I'd go to Scoma's (do a search) just to make Pops happy, there's good reviews for what it is. If you're not totally sure, just go for lunch that way you can "recover" with dinner. Hard to go wrong with Zuni.

thanks! I have been searching all over this board. Thanks for the link! We need a "special" place to have dinner with the family to celebrate their anniversary....What do you think of Zuni? They are a causal bunch...something not too fancy

Zuni would be a nice place, especially since it has tables and areas big enough for the whole party to sit together without feeling crowded. A16 is fun, and they have a nice space for large parties, so that might be fun too. La Ciccia is one of my favorites, but I don't know if they could accommodate that large of a party. Incanto has a good private room and would be a fun place for all of you. Perbacco could also work, the food there is great and it has enough space for a large party.
