Help for out of towner

I will be staying at Gaylord National Harbor next week. The restaurant selection looks pretty touristy and I was hoping for some nearby recomendations. We will have a car and there appears to be a ferry to Alexandria. Preferences are Steakhouse/American, red sauce Italian, and seafood. Thank you in advance.

  1. Rays the steaks and Rays Hellsburger in Arlington are great

    1. Eammon's on King St. does great fish and chips.

      1. In Old Town Alexandria, about 3-4 blocks from where the ferry docks, on King Street there's Landini Brothers for Italian, Geranio's for Italian but another 4 blocks up, and a block or two beyond is Majestic for American, there's Overwood on N. Lee (nearer the water) for American and a nice hangar steak. Alexandria isn't known for it's steakhouses, although the one at National Harbor is supposed to be quite good although quite pricey as well.

It is a long, long way from the beautiful but isolated National Harbor to Ray's the Steaks. Landini Bros. is an excellent suggestion as is Geranio's and the Majestic. Really like Eammon's, too. I haven't been to Overwood.

Frankly, if I was going to consider driving I would go into downtown D. C. Say, Pennsylvania Avenue and Central or the Capital Grill or Cafe Atlantico or anyplace where it feels like you are in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. National Harbor which I walked through yesterday might as well be in another world.

        2. Hank's Oyster Bar in Old Town Alexandria for seafood. Lots of good recs above. I really like Blacksalt for seafood, it is a little out of the way in DC though.
