Favorite food in books?
The news about the volcano in Iceland reminded me of one of my favorite literary food scenes, from one of Dorothy Dunnett's books. The protagonists, from Brussels, were in Iceland (late 1400s) with a native guide. They wrapped up an already killed and cleaned sheep and tossed it into a geyser. A couple hours later the geyser exploded and they had a nice meal.
I also like everything Mary Stewart ever wrote about food - from her descriptions you could almost smell and taste the meals.
