Molecular Gastronomy Orlando?
Besides the usual Luma and Pig outings that my wife and splurge on, I really don't eat out all that much. We both trade off the duties of feeding the family. We both know that we will see some interesting and tasty cuisine at theese place but not what we have experinced in other cities. I have lived in Florida all of my life and Iam wondering if we need a place to go that can specialize in tasting menus, and chefs that can perform this type of craft? If anyone knows of a place or even thinks we need a place let me know...
You might try 2008 - the year 2008 :)
While the trend seemed to skip Orlando, molecular gastronomy has moved off of the front burner, maybe best demonstrated by Ferran Adria closing El Bulli.
Since then the culinary world has gone through trends at an accelerating pace (burger joints, boutique cocktail bars, local sourcing/farm-to-table, gastropubs, food trucks - we're currently on this one here in O-Town)
If we can catch up with bigger trends, we should soon be seeing pop-up restaurants and large combo ethnic markets/food counters a la Eataly in NYC. Who knows what's next - my prediction is extreme ethnic authenticity like Japanese Kaiseki or Indian Thaali. Or maybe we're due for a fondue revival :)
