Frozen shrimp scampi

RedTop Apr 17, 2010 10:41 AM

Several weeks ago I noticed that Sea Pak frozen shrimp scampi was on sale at my neighborhood super market. I had a coupon that would bring the price down to $5 and change, so I bought it, cooked it and enjoyed it with a side of rice.

Just last week--having the urge for the meal again, I was at the freezer case in the markets fish department. Sea Pak was not on sale. And I didn't have a coupon. Gorton's Shrimp Scampi was on sale so I bought that. Very simple to prepare stovetop, I dreged spaghetti noodles through the scampi and served it that way.

I was disappointed in the Gorton's

Any other 'hounds have this experience between these competing brands?

Hi RedTop...I live in Canada - and our Costco used to sell the Sea Pak frozen scampi and just loved it - it was terrific and easy to prepare when in a hurry. We don't have Gorton's here so can't compare - actually we don't have ANY other brands to compare with the SeaPak one. Really wish Costco here would get it back.

neither of the two brands you mention, but my best friend swears by Michael Angelo's Shrimp Scampi... http://www.michaelangelos.com/product...

This looks promising. I just wish the michaelangelos web site listed markets they sell through!

I have not tried it, but our local market carries Marie Callenders Shrimp Scampi.
