Black Bass would be great for your lunch. They've expanded with the recent renovation/rebuild and now have terrace seating overlooking the Delaware.

Not sure where you saw mixed reviews as they've been uniformly positive on opentable and yelp. Make sure reviews you read are post August 2009 - reflecting when the Black Bass reopened. We've been twice since for dinner and have enjoyed both occasions. We're going again with friends on Saturday.

Here is the CH link to the mixed reviews - http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7327...

Look on the bright side. If you are the group of 50, they will give you good service and make everyone else suffer.

If you are going to be in the New Hope area, you have try Mother's and Triumph Brewery in New Hope, the Hamilton Grille Room in Lambertville and The Stockton Inn in Stockton, NJ!
Another great place in between NYC and New Hope is The Oyster House in Milford, NJ.

Just had lunch on Saturday at the BB. We sat outside, and it was just beautiful. I think your New Yorkers will be wowed with the view and the charm of BB, but the food is just good, not excellent, imo. It's really all about the atmosphere, and the inn has been beautifully renovated. Stick to the basics and you should be fine. This is not a restaurant where I would go for anything adventerous. Most of the negative complaints appear from diners who had dinner there. I love their Charleston Crab dish and the spinach salad. The burger looks great as well.
