Any time I go, I seem to only order one thing, the Amok Royal, and I can't deviate. It's a seafood stewy thing that comes in a bamboo cup, a nice presentation. It's sooo good! I bet it never left the menu since the last time you were there. They sometimes extend their restaurant week menu to a prixe fixe, and I can safely say the 4 course meal is an insane amount of food.

second the Amok and also avoid the lackluster French offerings.

Elephant Walk serves French and Cambodian, not Thai. My husband and I always order from the Cambodian menu.

My favorite dishes are appetizers...they have a great dish called "Nataing"...ground pork simmered in coconut milk and served with crispy rice cakes...yum. Also good is the "Avocat Kanthor" salad which is so yummy...raw tuna, avocado, lemon grass. The cambodian spring rolls are also very good...and I like the loc lac entree. You are reminding me that I haven't been back in a very long time and I should go...I am craving those appetizers!

O.K., we ate here last night ,so now I can answer my own question! With some very wise guidance from our friendly waitress, we ordered a number of things. Our favs were the:

**Cambodian pork spring rolls, deep fried and rolled with mint and lettuce leaves
**Nataing- ground pork in red curry coconut sauce served with crispy fried rice puff cakes

** Shrimp Amrita, richly flavored w/many spices and the shrimp perfectly moist and succulent.
**Kar Saiko shortribs w/ Shanghai noodles
We were really glad we asked for our jasmine rice to be substituted with Brown Rice w/ Soybeans and Lime Rice.

Just for the record, the Chicken Malika was too dry for me. Interestingly, it tasted exactly like the Crazy Chicken at Arlington's Sweet Chili.

I've always believed that soups are an excellent indicator of a chef's talent; the daily special Cream of Asparagus soup was lovely, clean, robust.

Dessert- the chocolate hazelnut coffee marjolaine was dry and disappointingly lacking in flavor. .

The room is comfortable and handsome; exposed brick walls lined w/ banquettes, warm colors and fabrics, large windows. Not a loud room; conversation-compatible.We thought prices were very fair and unusually low for such a nice atmosphere.Accordingly, entree portions were normal, though the app portions were very generous. Service was friendly, efficient and speedy (6pm Sat. night); easy free parking behind the building; very crowded when we left at 7:30. This is a delicious and convenient dinner spot for pre-Somerville Theater concerts. We look forward to returning to try that Amok Royal, the Kanthor salad and more of our favs. Next time I'm going to get my OWN bowl of that Nataing!!
